Personality [25 word minimum]: Eiji is a troubled soul, who doesn't know what exactly he wants from life except to have a career in music and/or acting. He is intelligent, kind and brave, though he tends to not be so kind most of the time. His fathers influence is what's made him this way. He won't be 100% nice to a person unless he knows them, feels sorry for them or likes them - and even then he probably won't be completely nice.
He has a vicious tongue in arguments and tends to say things in the heat of the moment that he wouldn't normally. He has anger issues, most likely inherited from his father. He'll take any oppurtunity to get into trouble or to break rules.
Deep down, he's a nice guy, only putting up a tough guy facade to try and protect himself from any hurt or heartache. Every-so-often, he slips and lets this side of him show. But for the most part he's very careful to keep it hidden.
History [50 word minimum]: He was born in Tokyo to a German-American father and a Japanese mother, with an older brother. They lived in quite a large house, and were relatively well-off. Eiji's father was an army General, and was a cold-hearted man, who never showed any affection towards his children, or even his wife.
Due to the family's American background, his father and his brother were fluent in English; however, Eiji is monolingual, only fluent in Japanese, and considers himself Japanese. Because both of his parents worked to support the family, Eiji and his brother lived with their grandmother as children, never seeing much of their parents at all.
When Eiji was nine, his mother died in a tragic car accident just outside of Tokyo. As a result, he lost the only person who might have shown him any love. His brother, then sixteen, had moved out into a place of his own and barely contacted the family. That left Eiji with his father, starved of affection and love. That was how he grew up the way he did. He dealt with his grief the same way his father did - he bottled it up, held it inside, wouldn't cry because he remembered his father saying that boys shouldn't cry and that crying was a sign of weakness.
He started getting into fights at school, he didn't do homework, he skipped classes. He's gotten into trouble with the police plenty of times, gotten expelled from 6 different schools. Kurayami is his fathers last resort for him, so Eiji is the new boy this year. To this day, Eiji still acts like that. Old habits are hard to break, but he's hoping that there will come a time when he can drop the facade. But that probably won't happen until he leaves Kurayami.
